Luanda – Angola, via the National Asset Recovery Service, has recovered at least USD 12 billion in real estate and cash in the country and abroad over the last four years as part of the fight against corruption and impunity.
This information was provided on Tuesday by the national director of the service attached to the Attorney General’s Office, Eduarda Rodrigues, speaking to the press on the sidelines of the “Workshop on asset recovery,” which brings together the attorneys general of the Community of Portuguese-Speaking Countries (CPLP).
According to the deputy attorney general, that amount is still being held captive in banks in the country and abroad, and the processes are underway in the courts.
Asked about the seized properties, the magistrate explained that some were handed over to trustees for management, while those that were empty are being used by several State institutions.
Eduarda Rodrigues announced the holding, this year, of an auction of some recovered goods (real estate and more than 100 vehicles), being these acts directed to any interested citizen.
