Angola reiterates strengthened cooperation with Lithuania

Luanda – Angolan president of the Republic João Lourenço reiterated Wednesday the country’s desire to contribute to the strengthening of friendship and cooperation relations with Lithuania.

In a message to his counterpart Gitanas Nauséda, ahead of celebration of National Day of Lithuania on 16th February, João Lourenço congratulates the People and Government of that European country on behalf of the Angolan Executive and in his own name.

“In this moment of important historical significance for the Lithuanian people, may I express my wishes for progress and prosperity for your country”, reads a message reached ANGOP Wednesday.

Lithuania is one of the three Baltic republics, along with Estonia and Latvia, which were part of the former Soviet Union.

The country shares borders with Latvia (north), Belarus (east and south), Poland (south), the enclave of Kaliningrad (Russia) (south and west) and the Baltic Sea to the west.

A 2017 agreement of intent between Angola and Lithuania highlights the interest of that European Union country in training Angolan staff in the sectors of industry, agriculture, information technology, trade and services.
