Angola rises on Corruption Perception Index

Luanda – Angola has risen 20 places in the Corruption Perception Index, compared to the year 2021, as stated in the result of the study carried out by the Germany-based organisation Transparency International, which includes 180 countries and territories.

According to the report, mentioned by Novo Jornal newspaper, Angola maintained the growing trend of recent years in the fight against corruption, ranking 116th.

The publication related to the year 2022, published Tuesday by the Germany-based organisation´s anti-corruption movement, says that the trend over the last five years had led to a rise of 14 points.

As for other Portuguese-speaking African countries, it says that Guinea Bissau only gained 26 points on a scale that goes from zero to 100.

Mozambique rose five levels from last year (142). Cape Verde is the best placed Portuguese-speaking country in Africa (35) and Sao Tome and Principe has risen three places (65).

The Corruption Perception Index has been published every year since 1995 by the non-governmental organisation Transparency International and has been a reference in the analysis of corruption phenomenon, based on the perception of experts and business executives on the levels of corruption in the public sector.
