Angola takes over OACPS leadership in December

Luanda – Angola will assume the rotating presidency of the Organisation of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) in December this year.

This was disclosed by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities, Domingos Vieira Lopes on Monday in Luanda at the meeting of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs with technicians from the multi-sector teams of the OACPS Secretariat and the organisation’s Working Group.

The meeting served to prepare the 10th Summit of the Organisation’s Heads of State and Government, scheduled for December this year.

At the meeting, the participants discussed the event’s organisational process, with the participants having defined the summit’s central theme: “Oceans, a Destination – Resilience and Sustainability”, with three sub-topics.

The seventy-nine member organisation is tasked with coordinating activities under the 1975 Lomé Convention.

All States, with the exception of Cuba, are signatories to the Cotonou Agreement, which replaced the Lomé Conventions.
