Angola to attend ECOSOC forum in New York

Luanda- Angola minister of Economy and Planning Mário Caetano João has left for New York to represent the country in the 2023 United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) Forum to start on January 31.

The event will be held at the United Nations’ headquarters, according to a statement released by Economy and Planning Ministry reached ANGOP.

“Accelerating the recovery from the pandemic of Convid-19 and the full implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development at all levels,” is the motto of the one-day forum.

On Tuesday, the minister of the Economy and Planning will make the national statement at the 2023 Partnerships Forum at the United Nations Trusteeship Council.

Angola is expected to present its current socio-economic picture and prospects for the next five years.

Mário Caetano João is expected to meet with the Regional Director of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Ahunna Eziakonwa on January 30, to discuss the projects that UNDP is implementing in Angola and the perspectives for the future.

In addition to other projects in Angola, UNDP as been providing technical assistance in the implementation of the Programme for Reconversion of the Informal Economy.
