Luanda: Angola will host, from August 1st to 2nd, the Extraordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of the African Union (AU) on Strengthening Mechanisms for Conflict Prevention and Resolution in Africa, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T©te Ant³nio, announced on Tuesday.
According to Angola Press News Agency, this announcement was made during the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Angola and African countries, also known as the golden jubilee. The summit aims to enhance existing mechanisms to ensure more effective responses to the crises affecting several African nations, under the leadership of President Joo Louren§o, recognized as a Champion of Peace and Reconciliation.
The initiative reflects Angola's ongoing commitment to promoting peace on the continent, especially at a time when instability and conflicts are intensifying in some regions. The meeting will provide African leaders with an opportunity to share visions and coordinate strategies to resolve the conflicts that continue to impede Africa's progress.
In addition to the summit, the Angolan Foreign Minister announced that the 4th Luanda Biennial for the Culture of Peace and Non-Violence will also occur in October, further emphasizing Angola's dedication to peacemaking efforts across the continent.
