Angola to Participate in Web Summit Lisboa 2024 with Seven Startups.

Luanda: Seven Angolan startups in the preliminary 'Alpha' stage, focusing on finance, sustainability, urban mobility, and e-commerce, are set to represent the nation at the 'Web Summit Lisboa 2024 edition' from the 11th to the 14th of this month in Portugal. This announcement was made on Monday in Luanda. According to Angola Press News Agency, Bráulio Augusto, the executive director of the National Institute for Support to Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (INAPEM), shared this information during a press conference. The briefing aimed to highlight Angola's involvement in the summit, where the country will also showcase advancements in robotics and technology. The startups-Cyto, Sócio, ANDA, Aro-TEC, Ecoselecta, 5-Linhas, and Kubinga-have been prepared with the assistance of the International Finance Corporation (IFC), a World Bank affiliate, to develop their business models. Bráulio Augusto emphasized that the summit would offer an immersive experience for these startups, enabling them to network with e ntrepreneurs, investors, and global leaders. This initiative aims to aid in Angola's economic diversification and position the country as a leader in technology and innovation within Africa. He expressed optimism that their participation would lead to new strategic partnerships and international connections, bolstering the Angolan entrepreneurship ecosystem. INAPEM's ongoing support for these startups and Angolan entrepreneurs was reaffirmed by Augusto. The Web Summit, established in 2009, is recognized as a significant global event for technology, entrepreneurship, and innovation. This year's summit, focusing on marketing and Artificial Intelligence (AI) trends, anticipates the participation of over three thousand startups, who will share their ideas and projects over four days to influence the future landscape. This marks the first occasion that Angola will be represented by a delegation at the event, as previous editions saw individual participation from startups and national companies.
