Luanda: Minister of Transport Ricardo de Abreu on Thursday in Luanda called for the installed capacity and investment in Angola's civil aviation sector to be converted into effective performance and measurable results for the country. Speaking at the 2nd Management Meeting of TAAG - Angola Airlines, dedicated to assessing the transformation process of the national carrier, the minister stressed that the current phase requires the sector to maximise the benefits of fleet renewal, the operation of Dr Ant³nio Agostinho Neto International Airport and Angola's strategic geographical position.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the minister emphasized that while the nation holds great potential, it is crucial for investments to translate into tangible outcomes such as increased efficiency, higher productivity, revenue growth, improved service delivery, cost control, operational reliability, and sustainability. 'Potential is not the same as results. Investment is not transformation, because transformation occurs when investment translates into greater efficiency, higher productivity, revenue growth, improved service delivery, cost control, operational reliability and sustainability,' he stated.
During the meeting, which aimed to strengthen individual and collective responsibility in implementing strategic priorities, participants reviewed the main operational and financial indicators related to the airline's recovery process. TAAG's restructuring process formally began in September 2018, when the Head of the Executive transformed the public company into a public limited company (TAAG, SA).
Since then, the programme has progressed through several key stages, including the approval in 2019 of a restructuring plan focused primarily on the modernisation of the airline's fleet. TAAG currently operates flights to 13 domestic and 12 international destinations. In addition to passenger transport, its fleet provides air cargo services, which are considered essential to the development of the country's logistics and economic ecosystem.
