ANGOLA, TURKEY SIGN FRAMEWORK AGREEMENT ON DEFENCE

Luanda – Angola and Turkey signed last Wednesday in Istanbul, Turkey, a Framework Agreement on Defence, said the Ministry of National Defence and Motherland Veterans on Thursday.

The two countries ministers of Defence, João Ernesto dos Santos (Angola) and Hulusi Akar (Turkey) signed the agreement on the sidelines of 15th International Fair of Defence Industry held on 17-20 August.

The ceremony was preceded by talks involving the two countries delegations on win-win relationships.

Angolan head of State, João Lourenço, visited Turkey last July, during which the two delegations signed ten cooperation agreements in various fields.

The agreements include those on the fields of trade, economy. mineral resources and transports, in addition to consular and diplomatic aspects.

The diplomatic ties between the countries date back to 1980.

Other cooperation agreements feature trade, agriculture, education, culture, defence, justice and sports.

In Angola, the Turkey’s investments are based in the provinces of Luanda and Uíge, with focus on in the areas of industry, trade, education and civil engineering.
