Angola Ushers in New Era of Co-operation with Democratic Republic of the Congo

Addis ababa: Angola is ushering in a new era of co-operation with the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), President Joo Louren§o announced on Wednesday in Kinshasa. 'We believe this is only the beginning (...) and that the volume of economic co-operation and trade exchanges will grow significantly over time,' the Angolan Head of State said during a joint press conference with his DRC counterpart, F©lix Tshisekedi.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the announcement came after both leaders witnessed the signing of the railway concession agreement for the development of the Lobito Corridor in the DRC. President Louren§o remarked that both countries considered the previous situation as abnormal, despite their historic ties of friendship and blood relations.

President Louren§o emphasized that, until relatively recently, the relationship between Angola and the DRC was limited in scope. However, he expressed optimism that this new agreement marks a turning point, promising enhanced economic cooperation and expanded trade exchanges.
