Luanda: Angola's Petro de Luanda's point guard, Childe Dundo, has been selected as part of the Basketball African League (BAL) All-Star Team, a squad chosen at the end of the sixth edition held on Sunday in Kigali, won by Tigers of Rwanda. According to Angola Press News Agency, the five-member team includes not only the Angolan standout but also Donovan Williams and Majok Deng from Al Ahly of Libya, and Mangok Mathiang and Craig Randall from the Tigers of Rwanda. Dundo played a pivotal role for the Angolan team, excelling in various statistical areas. Notably, he was the top performer in free throws during the tournament, achieving an impressive 86.5 percent success rate with 45 successful shots out of 52 attempts. The 28-year-old, measuring 1.67 meters in height, also averaged 6.1 assists per game, placing him sixth on a list of ten, and 2.1 steals, ranking him third in that category among the top ten. Despite his contributions of 9 points, 7 rebounds, and 8 assists in the final game on Sunday, Dundo's eff orts were not enough to secure a victory for his team. Petro de Luanda narrowly missed out on claiming their second BAL title, succumbing to the Tigers with a final score of 88-90. Dundo's defensive prowess was further recognized as he was named to the BAL All-Defensive Team for the third time, following his previous accolades in the 2022 and 2023 editions. This team also features Mohamed Sadi from Al Ahly Libya, Aminu Mohamed from Club African de Tunis, Mouhamadou Diagne from FUS Rabat, and Mangok Mathiang from RSSB Tigers. Additionally, the organization announced a second All-BAL team, which includes another Angolan player, Aboubakar Gakou from Petro de Luanda. Joining him are Omar Abada from Club African de Tunis, Zack Lofton and Kevin Murphy from Al Ahly of Egypt, and Jo Lual Acuil from Al Ahly of Libya. Gakou emerged as Petro's leading scorer in the final game, amassing 28 points. He also ranked sixth in three-point shooting percentage, converting 22 out of 53 attempts for a 41.5% success rate.
