Malanje: The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) has arrested a 43-year-old Angolan citizen for possession of 14,000 alleged diamonds in the Quissua neighborhood of the Caculama municipality in Malanje province. The arrest highlights ongoing efforts to combat illegal diamond trafficking in the region. According to Angola Press News Agency, SIC spokesperson Augusto Barros André disclosed the information, noting that the diamonds were found in the individual's home. Authorities also confiscated at least 200,000 kwanzas, three calculators, a scale, a collection of tweezers, two sieves, and a diamond sorting lamp during the operation. The individual, originally from Lunda Norte province, was involved in the illegal trafficking of diamonds in Malanje. He faces charges related to the illegal possession of strategic minerals, as authorities continue to crack down on illicit diamond trade activities in the area.
