Angolan Commission Evaluates Safety of Nationals in the Middle East

Luanda: The Commission tasked with monitoring the situation of Angolan citizens residing in the Middle East, given the current security situation in that region, met on Monday in Luanda to learn about the evolving situation.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting was chaired by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, T©te Ant³nio, in compliance with the order of the President of the Republic, Joo Louren§o. This order determined the creation of a multi-sectoral commission with the objective of monitoring the evolution of the situation and guaranteeing the protection, as well as the eventual evacuation, of Angolan citizens in countries affected by regional instability.

During the meeting, the Angolan ambassadors to Israel, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Qatar presented updated information on the presence of the Angolan community in their respective countries and reported on the measures adopted by the diplomatic missions to provide consular assistance and support in case of evacuation.

The representatives also detailed the contact mechanisms established with local authorities and international partners to strengthen security conditions for Angolan citizens and facilitate any evacuation operations.

The meeting allowed for the assessment of contingency scenarios, the strengthening of coordination between different sectors of the Executive Branch, and the definition of lines of action for rapid responses to any worsening of the situation in the Middle East.

Among other participants included the Minister of National Defense and Veterans of the Homeland, Joo Ernesto dos Santos 'Liberdade', the Secretaries of State for Technical Assurance, Cristiano M¡rio Ndeitunga, for Local Authorities, Fernando da Paixo Andr© Manuel, for Health in the Hospital Area, Leonardo Europeu Inocªncio, for Land Transport, Jorge Benge, and the Director-General of the External Intelligence Services (SIE), Matias Bertino Matondo.

The commission will maintain permanent monitoring of the situation in the Middle East, in coordination with Angola's diplomatic missions in the region, aiming to safeguard the security and well-being of Angolan citizens.
