Luanda: The Minister of State for Economic Coordination, Jos© de Lima Massano, announced that the Angolan economy has entered a growth phase, primarily fueled by agricultural production, after enduring an extended period of contraction.
According to Angola Press News Agency, during a meeting in Lubango city with members of the Hula Provincial Government, Minister Massano highlighted the significant progress made by the economy. He noted that the economy has transitioned from stabilization to growth, largely driven by the non-oil sector, with agribusiness playing a pivotal role. Provinces like Hula have been recognized for their unique characteristics, business capabilities, and the dedication of local families, contributing to this economic resurgence.
Minister Massano emphasized the importance of developments in Hula's productive sector, noting its impact on the entire nation as a key economic hub. He expressed a commitment to engaging with local business operators to understand their current circumstances and to acknowledge their contributions. "We extend this recognition and gratitude to all economic operators in the province and will continue to pursue whatever measures prove necessary to turn this potential into reality, working together to build economic and social well-being," he reiterated.
During his visit to Lubango, the Minister assessed public investment projects and private production initiatives, with the aim of strengthening measures to harness the province's economic potential. His objective was to monitor ongoing public investment programs, examine challenges, and identify optimal solutions to ensure the fulfillment of commitments made regarding these initiatives.
The meeting in Lubango addressed ongoing projects under the Integrated Plan for Municipal Intervention (PIIM) and the Public Investment Program (PIP) portfolios in Hula province, with the goal of ensuring successful execution and overcoming potential obstacles.
The Minister's delegation included representatives from development institutions such as the Development Bank of Angola (BDA) and the Agricultural Development Support Fund (FADA), aimed at facilitating support for the business community and households.
As part of his two-day visit, Minister Massano inspected the Lubango Ring Road construction, the Lubango City Urban Redevelopment project, a fruit preservation and freezing facility, and "Quavi," a pork production and slaughtering initiative. Additionally, he inaugurated the Jardins da Yoba seed processing and conditioning plant and the STI Melat Agro-pecu¡ria facility, which specializes in milk and dairy production.
