New York:Angolan First Lady Ana Dias Louren§o emphasized the importance of reparative justice as a fundamental right and key to a fair international order during her speech in New York.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Ana Dias Louren§o spoke at a forum on 'Promoting Reparative Justice, Cultural Restitution and the Transformation of Africa's Creative Economy', held by the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) alongside the 81st United Nations General Assembly.
She asserted that justice must not be seen as charity but as an essential right and called on continental institutions to lead changes that would make reparative justice a tangible reality. Louren§o also urged for reforms in the global financial system to break cycles of dependency and advocated for strong legal frameworks for global reparation claims.
In another high-level UN event, Louren§o participated in discussions on 'Angola's Leadership in Peace and Social Transformation in Africa.' She highlighted the active role of First Ladies in providing humanitarian support and emphasized the need for 'corridors of dignity' to maintain essential services during crises.
Additionally, Louren§o attended an event by the Organisation of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), reflecting on their leadership in aiding women and girls. She also participated in receptions and meetings focused on education and future cooperation, marking her engagement in global development discussions.
