Angolan Foreign Affairs Minister defends reforms in OACPS

Luanda – The minister of Foreign Affairs, Téte António, encouraged the Secretariat of the Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States (OACPS) on Tuesday, in Luanda, to invest in reforms for the strengthening of the group.

The minister, who was speaking during the Council Bureau meeting of the 114th Session of the OACPS Council of Ministers that took place online from Brussels, Belgium, considered it fundamental in the scope of the current context the implementation of structural reforms to achieve the foreseen objectives for the development of the member states.

The Organisation of African Caribbean and Pacific States intends to become a great institution and capable of working in solidarity to improve the living conditions of the people of the 79 member nations.

Téte António encouraged all member states to attend the 10th Heads of State and Government Summit of the OACPS to take place from 06 to 10 December, in Luanda.

Téte António congratulated the Central African Republic minister of Foreign Affairs, Sulvie Baipo-Temon, for assuming the presidency of the OACPS Council of Ministes.

The OACPS has historic relations with the European Union, therefore, the organization intends to extend its relationship to other strategic partnerships, as well as to reinforce the cooperation between member states.

Meanwhile, ambassador Georges Rebelo Pinto Chikoti is the first Angolan to occupy a prominent position in the OACPS.
