Angolan Foreign Minister Visits Canada to Strengthen Cooperation

Lubango: Angolan Foreign Minister Téte António is undertaking a two-day official visit to Canada, aimed at strengthening and deepening the relations of friendship, cooperation, and partnership between the two countries. According to Angola Press News Agency, a note from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs states that the visit constitutes a milestone in strengthening the historical ties of friendship and cooperation between Angola and Canada. It adds that it reflects the common desire to raise the level of bilateral relations and to consolidate an increasingly dynamic and comprehensive partnership for the benefit of their respective peoples. The note details that Téte António will have working meetings with the Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Anita Anand, the former Permanent Representative of Canada to the United Nations, Robert Fowler, and the Secretary of State for International Development, Randeep Sarai. The meetings aim at a comprehensive assessment of the current state of bilateral relations and to identify new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation in the political-diplomatic, economic, commercial, investment, human resource development, and multilateral forum coordination fields. Angola and Canada maintain cordial and constructive political and diplomatic relations, based on the principles of mutual respect, sovereign equality of States, the promotion of peace, international security, and sustainable development. Over the years, the two countries have strengthened political dialogue and cooperation on matters of common interest, both bilaterally and within the framework of the international organizations of which they are members.
