Algiers: Angolan President Joo Louren§o and his Algerian counterpart, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, are engaged in discussions at the El Mouradia Palace in Algiers. This private meeting, held on Monday, is part of President Louren§o's 3-day state visit to the Maghreb country.
According to Angola Press News Agency, sectoral meetings are concurrently taking place between members of the Angolan and Algerian delegations. These discussions aim to strengthen bilateral cooperation in various fields, with a focus on reaching agreements in strategic sectors.
The ongoing talks are anticipated to result in the signing of 11 cooperation agreements. These agreements span sectors such as higher education, transport, and oil, which are considered vital for both nations.
Prior to the meeting at the Presidential Palace, President Louren§o paid homage to the combatants of the Algerian liberation struggle by laying a wreath at the Sanctuary of the Martyrs (Maqam Echahid) in Algiers.
Following this, President Louren§o visited the National Museum of Moudjahid, located beneath the same monument. The museum holds significant historical value for Algeria, as it is dedicated to the memory of resistance against colonialism from 1830 to 1962, encompassing the Popular Resistance, the National Movement, and the National Revolution.
