Angolan Head of State arrives in Malabo

Luanda – The President of the Republic of Angola, João Lourenço, arrived late Thursday afternoon in the city of Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, to take part in the African Union summits on terrorism and unconstitutional changes of governments and on the humanitarian situation in the African continent.

At the international airport in Malabo, President Lourenço was welcomed by members of the government of Equatorial Guinea and the Angolan ambassador to the African country, Luvualu de Carvalho.

The first summit will take place on Friday and will be dedicated to humanitarian issues and donor action. The second will take place on Saturday and will address the situation of terrorism and unconstitutional changes of government in Africa.

The extraordinary summit on terrorism and unconstitutional changes of governments in Africa was proposed by the Angolan Head of State, João Lourenço, at the ordinary summit of the continent’s leaders, held in February this year, in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

The meeting will analyse the impact of this scourge on the continent, in order to identify strategies leading to a comprehensive plan of action to fight it.
