Lisbon – The Speaker of the National Assembly of Angola, Carolina Cerqueira, said Tuesday in Lisbon, Portugal, that the parliament of the Community of Portuguese-speaking Countries (CPLP) is a catalyst and influential in the social, cultural and economic development of the communities of the member states.
According to Carolina Cerqueira, although the member states of the CPLP are geographically spread across five continents, they are united by the Portuguese language, contributing to the growth of the different sectors of the community.
Carolina Cerqueira – who was speaking at the plenary session of the 11th Parliamentary Assembly of the CPLP, which analysed the topic “Free movement of persons, goods and services in the Lusophone space” – stressed the importance of the Parliamentary Assembly highlighting the fact that it directly influences the development of matters related to the activities of organs and bodies.
To Carolina Cerqueira, the CPLP is to be congratulated, as it presents itself revitalised and ready to pave the way for fundamental changes in the paradigm of the community.
During the second day of the meeting, a debate was held on the electoral processes in the CPLP member states, which was followed by the closing session.
On the first day of work of the 11th Parliamentary Assembly of the Countries of the Portuguese-Speaking Community, the Speaker of the National Assembly held a meeting with her Portuguese counterpart, Augusto Santos Silva.
During the event, meetings of the different committees were held which addressed issues such as politics, legislation, citizenship, movement, economy, environment, cooperation, education, science and culture.
There were also meetings of the network of women and young parliamentarians.
