Angolan president backs to Luanda from Washington

Luanda – Angolan head of State João Lourenço returned to the country Saturday (17) from Washington, where he participated in the discussion on the perspectives of cooperation between the United States and the African continent.

At Luanda’s “4 de Fevereiro” international airport, the Angolan Head of State, accompanied by the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, received a welcome from the Vice-President of the Republic Esperança da Costa and Government officials.

João Lourenço travelled to Washington at the invitation of President Joe Biden, addressed to a group of African heads of State, focused on prospects for US-Africa cooperation.

During four-day stay in Washington, João Lourenço participated in various activities, including the Business Forum, also attended by President Biden, among other personalities.

The Angolan Head of State also took part in a dinner offered by the host President to his African counterparts.

As part of the visit, the Angolan President received, in an audience, high figures of the American administration, such as the US Secretary of State Antony Blinken, and businessmen.

The Angolan President was at the head of a delegation made up of several ministers who were distributed in different panels.
