Luanda: Angolan President Joo Louren§o received a message from Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) President F©lix Tshisekedi concerning the upcoming Summit of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL).
According to Angola Press News Agency, the letter was delivered by the DRC's Minister of Regional Integration, Floribert Anzuluni Isiloketshi, who met with President Louren§o at the Presidential Palace. The primary focus of President Tshisekedi's message was the upcoming CIRGL summit, scheduled for November 15th in Kinshasa.
Floribert Anzuluni emphasized Angola's pivotal role as chairperson in preparing for the meeting, noting that the event's preparation has been a bilateral effort between the DRC and Angola. As the rotating presidency is set to transfer to the DRC, President Tshisekedi wanted to personally extend the invitation to President Louren§o and seek his recommendations for a smooth transition.
When questioned about the political-military situation in the DRC, Anzuluni reiterated the government's dedication to peace and stability, acknowledging ongoing challenges in the eastern region. He affirmed the DRC's commitment to regional, continental, and international peace processes, emphasizing a preference for peaceful solutions.
Relations between Angola and the DRC are marked by close cooperation and ongoing political dialogue, with a focus on joint initiatives for stability and development in the Great Lakes Region.
