Angolan President’s Technology Initiatives Featured in Conecta Magazine

Luanda:The first edition of Conecta magazine, published by the Embassy of Angola in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), focuses on the digital transformation strategy of Angola, led by President Joo Lourenço. The publication highlights the country's efforts to modernize its technology sector through a series of initiatives aimed at economic diversification, social inclusion, good governance, and the enhancement of public services. According to Angola Press News Agency, The magazine, available in French and Portuguese, includes insights from Angola's Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Mário Oliveira, who emphasized the ambitious technological modernization agenda being implemented. Additionally, Conecta covers the visit of Angola's First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, to ANGOTIC 2026 and highlights a new memorandum of understanding between the Angolan Communications Institute (INACOM) and the Republic of Congo's Regulatory Agency for Posts and Electronic Commu nications (ARPCE) to regulate electronic communications, particularly at the border. Conecta also reports on various projects by the Ministry of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication (MINTTICS), the regulation of the telecommunications sector, and the bilateral cooperation between Angola and the DRC. It introduces Conecta Angola Comercial, an initiative to provide satellite internet to border areas, and discusses the role of startups at ANGOTIC in showcasing the potential of Angola's technology sector. The edition underscores the strengthening of technology partnerships between Angola and the DRC, as highlighted during the 6th edition of ANGOTIC. The presence of José Mpanda Kabangu, the Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Digital Affairs of the DRC, and other officials underscores the commitment to digital integration and cooperation between the two countries. The magazine also addresses the challenges faced by the Angolan Community in Congo, with the inauguration of a new headquarters in Kinshasa aimed at modernizing community services. Furthermore, it highlights the participation of Angolan and DRC delegations in the 7th China-Africa Media Cooperation Forum in Beijing, led by Angola's Secretary of State for Social Communication, Nuno Caldas Albino. The issue concludes by focusing on Angola's goal to enhance the telecommunications sector's contribution to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP), as reiterated by the Secretary of State for Telecommunications and Information Technologies, ngelo Buta Joo, during an event in Luanda dedicated to technological development strategies.
