Luanda: The Vice-President of Angola, Esperan§a da Costa, emphasized the growth in the quality, quantity, and diversity of products and services showcased at the 41st edition of the Luanda International Fair (FILDA). The event, held from July 21 to 26 at the Special Economic Zone in the province of Icolo e Bengo, marks a significant milestone in Angola's economic development.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the Vice-President noted the remarkable efforts of Angolan entrepreneurs and companies who continue to display resilience amidst challenges. The presence of foreign companies at FILDA underscores the international interest in the Angolan market and the potential for fruitful partnerships and business ventures.
Esperan§a da Costa recognized advancements in technological and innovative services and products, particularly highlighting the contributions of young Angolans. She stressed the importance of investing in national entrepreneurship, youth, and human capital to ensure that young people acquire essential skills and contribute significantly to economic development.
National agricultural production was also a focal point, with the Vice-President lauding the increased presence of agricultural products at the fair. She pointed out that only five percent of Angola's arable land is currently utilized, advocating for more investment in agriculture and entrepreneurship to enhance the business environment.
The Vice-President expressed that boosting national productivity is crucial for Angola to become more competitive and gain access to global markets, thereby improving the economy.
In addition to local production, the Vice-President highlighted Angola's investments in diversifying its energy sources, particularly focusing on renewable energies. She underscored the importance of clean energy investments for the energy transition, climate change mitigation, and fulfilling environmental commitments.
Concluding her visit, the Vice-President expressed satisfaction with the diverse exhibits at this year's FILDA, which hosts 2,348 exhibitors from both national and international origins.
