Luanda: The provincial secretary of the Liberal Party (PL) in Cunene, Mauricio Arago, reaffirmed on Thursday the commitment to recruiting new members to strengthen the internal organization ahead of the 2027 general election. The politician made the remarks on the sidelines of a visit to the facilities of the ANGOP Cunene Provincial Delegation, where he learned about its operation. According to Angola Press News Agency, Mauricio Arago acknowledged that the party is still a pioneer in politics, which is why it is working diligently to recruit members in order to have a strong militant base in the next general elections. 'The party has a strategic plan that leads us to establish ourselves in every corner of the province, since currently we are only established in seven municipalities, out of the 14 in the region,' he stressed. Within the scope of the process of updating the Unofficial Electoral Register for proof of life, Arago appealed to the population to flock to the BUAPs (Unofficial Electoral Registratio n Offices), to fulfill their civic duty. The politician reiterated the democratic spirit with which each citizen should participate in this process, being the first step towards choosing the future president of the Republic. Official data shows that, from June 15 to July 18, at least 16,000 citizens have updated their Unofficial Electoral Registration for proof of life, in six BUAPs, out of the 20 existing in the region. The Unofficial Electoral Register is the automatic and continuous registration process of Angolan citizens of legal age, which is based on the direct transfer of data from the civil identification database (Identity Card) to the database of adult citizens. The Constitutional Court of Angola legalized the Liberal Party (PL) in February 2025, under the leadership of Euclides Luis de Castro.
