Angola’s Diplomatic Efforts Highlighted at African Union Events in Egypt

El Alamein:Angola is amplifying its diplomatic presence this weekend by participating in the AUDA-NEPAD Summit and the 8th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union and the Regional Economic Communities in Egypt.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the events, taking place in the New City of El Alamein on the Mediterranean shores, include the Alamein Africa-GO63 Forum as a key side event. Angolan President Joo Louren§o is expected to deliver a speech at the forum. The program, running from October 1 to 4, features a business exhibition, with summits scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.

These gatherings focus on continental regional integration, a cornerstone for Agenda 2063, "The Africa We Want." Angola is utilizing these platforms to showcase its diplomatic prowess, marked by improved macroeconomic stability and an 8.7% economic growth rate in the second quarter of the year, as announced during the Angola Economic Forum.

The Alamein Africa-GO63 Forum is anticipated to attract nearly two thousand participants, serving as an avenue for Angola to strengthen its return to international markets by 2025. The forum aims to bring together over 20 Heads of State and key financial and industry leaders to discuss sectors vital to Africa's economy, such as infrastructure and digital innovation.

President Joo Louren§o is among the prominent African leaders attending the forum, alongside Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Burundi's ‰variste Ndayishimiye, among others. The summit will also feature representatives from the African Union, Afreximbank, and AUDA-NEPAD.

AUDA-NEPAD, headquartered in South Africa, is tasked with implementing development programs across Africa. Joo Louren§o was recently elected Acting Chairperson of its Heads of State and Government Orientation Committee, succeeding Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

The Mid-Year Coordination Summit, now in its eighth iteration, focuses on policy harmonization and labor division among AU Member States and other regional bodies. Angola is leveraging these diplomatic engagements to bolster its influence and support for initiatives like Ambassador Josefa Sacko's candidacy for Director-General of the FAO.

President Louren§o is accompanied in Egypt by key ministers, reflecting Angola's commitment to engaging with international partners and advancing its economic and diplomatic objectives.
