The National Consumer Price Index (NCPI) is a vital economic indicator that tracks the average change in prices of a representative basket of goods and services over time. It is used to measure inflation, assess the cost of living, and understand the impact of price changes on household purchasing power. Additionally, it supports economic decision-making by helping the government, businesses, and citizens plan financial adjustments based on economic trends. The INE employs a comprehensive data collection system to ensure representation across all points of sale in the country. This system is based on a sample of 1,050 shops and various establishments, along with 75 markets. In Luanda alone, there are around 163 goods and services establishments and 24 informal markets. The information used to establish the current CPI basket of products was derived from the Integrated Household Expenditure and Income Survey (IDR), conducted by the INE from March 2018 to March 2019.
