Zaire: The Local Governance Council is meeting on Thursday at the Zaire Provincial Palace, under the guidance of the President of the Republic, Joo Louren§o, to analyze the socioeconomic situation of the country's 21 provinces. The meeting aims to address various local governance issues, focusing on the formulation and monitoring of governance policies at the local level.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the meeting brings together provincial governors and members of the Executive linked to sectors with direct intervention in local administration. The objective is to evaluate the functioning of public services, the implementation of government programs, and the development of the provinces. The Local Governance Council plays a crucial role in assessing budget proposals of provincial governments, monitoring the execution of annual provincial plans, implementing local strategic projects, and evaluating policies to combat regional asymmetries.
The meeting takes place within the framework of the 48-hour working visit that President Joo Louren§o is making to the province of Zaire. On Wednesday, the President visited the construction sites of the future Mbanza Kongo International Airport 'Nimi a Lukeni' and the Zaire General Hospital, which are considered strategic infrastructures for the socio-economic development of the region.
