Angola’s Social Security Enrollment Reaches Over 3.4 Million Workers

Negage:More than 3.4 million Angolan workers are now part of the nation's mandatory social security system, as announced by Secretary of State for Labor and Social Security Pedro Jos© Filipe during a ceremony in Negage, Uige province.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Filipe revealed this achievement while reopening municipal social security offices, emphasizing the government's aim to cover at least 25% of Angola's economically active population by the end of the year. This initiative is managed by the National Social Security Institute (INSS), which safeguards worker income.

The expansion is part of Angola's efforts to enhance its administrative framework after a redistricting initiative that increased the number of municipalities from 164 to 325. To accommodate this, the INSS is refurbishing existing centers and constructing new facilities across various provinces.

Filipe mentioned that the expansion will advance gradually, considering local demand and resource availability. Additionally, the INSS is modernizing by digitizing records and transitioning worker data to electronic systems to improve efficiency.

The agency is committed to providing services such as worker enrollment, proof-of-life checks, information requests, and benefit declarations, focusing on enhancing support for the elderly.
