Tunis: There is need to speed up joint Arab action, review trade policies and lift restrictions on inter-Arab trade so as to create a complementary economic area, Trade and Export Development Minister KAlthoum Ben Rejeb Sunday said in Manama, Bahrain, at the League of Arab States Economic and Social Council ministerial preparatory meeting for the 33rd Arab Summit.
The minister highlighted the major interest in new industries and investment in the human capital, infrastructure, financial technologies, renewable energies, circular economy and artificial intelligence.
Tunisia firmly supports the emergency response plan to deal with the economic and social fallouts from the Israeli aggression on Palestine, especially emergency aid, she added.
The minister emphasised the importance of forging ahead towards adopting an Arab strategy for youth, peace and security, reads a Trade Ministry.
Tunisia is a key stage in the development of this Arab strategy, she added.
In this same context, the minister called for inv
esting in the Centre of Excellence for Youth in the Arab Region project headquaretered in Tunisia.
Ben Rejeb also had a meeting with Bahrain’s Minister of Industry and Commerce Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro. Trade as part of economic complementarity and investment took centre stage.
Issues of joint interest were also discussed. The two ministers voiced keenness to scale up and boost relations between the two countries.
Bahrain will host on May 16 the 33rd Arab Summit. The preparatory works for this summet kicked off on May 11.
