Armed forces committed to restructuring, modernisation

Luanda – The Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) Altino dos Santos reaffirmed Tuesday the commitment to restructuring, resizing and re-equipping the FAA, as part of modernisation programme.

The high-ranking official was addressing the military leaders of the Angolan Armed Forces, during a meeting held under the motto “let us improve the multilateral security of troops to better serve the country”.

In his speech, Altino dos Santos also reiterated his commitment to operational, combative and educational-patriotic preparation and the multilateral assurance of troops.

He pointed to the “continuous combat disposition of troops” to meet the needs of defending national sovereignty, as well as participating in peacekeeping operations, under the aegis of regional and international organisations.

He called for the need to improve the engagement of the troops, to respond to the mission of maintaining the inviolability of the territory, the defence of independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He also pointed out the strategic directive of the Chief of Staff for 2023/2026, which contains the main guidelines so that commanders and chiefs can guide themselves in the fulfillment of missions.

Altino dos Santos said he has new challenges for which the staff must be prepared, instructed and trained.

The two-day meeting is attended by, among other entities, generals, officers and admirals. It aims to analyze the current state of the Angolan Armed Forces. FMA/AL
