Rotterdam: The Angolan community and representatives of the African and Portuguese-speaking diaspora held a cultural event on Saturday in Netherlands, called "Art and Jazz," in honor of the National Hero's Day, Ant³nio Agostinho Neto.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the event, organized by the Angolan Consulate in Netherlands, brought together more than 250 African figures as well as Dutch guests in an atmosphere of identity and cultural exchange. The program included an exhibition of paintings and photographs by artists Savalas, Beto Santinho, Jandira M¡rio, Caz©, and Uota, and a section dedicated to Neto's life and work, which sensitively and artistically portrayed the National Hero's journey.

The evening was also marked by music and the recitation of poems by Agostinho Neto and other nationalists, performed by the Uota Collective Jazz Band, which gave voice to the literary and humanist depth of the statesman and poet. The event also aimed to preserve and promote the cultural memory of Agostinho Neto, highlighting him not only as a political leader and founder of the Angolan nation, but also as an intellectual and poet whose work continues to inspire new generations.

Furthermore, the event served to introduce the Angolan Ambassador to the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Liseth Pena, to the Angolan community, in a moment of great symbolism and institutional approach. Speaking to those present, the Consul General of Angola in Rotterdam, Ambassador Salvador Allende Jesus, emphasized that the celebration of Neto is not only a historical tribute, but also an invitation to reflect on the mission of new generations.

"Agostinho Neto and his generation fulfilled the mission of conquering freedom. Our mission today is to build a just, supportive, and reconciled Angola, and by honoring Neto, we renew our commitment to transforming his vision into the future," he said. With this initiative, the Consulate General of Angola in Rotterdam reaffirms its commitment to bringing the Angolan community closer to its history and identity, while promoting intercultural dialogue and the appreciation of art as an instrument of unity, patriotism, and the recovery of moral values.
