Bengo Athletes to Return for 69th Saint Sylvester Road Race

Luanda: Bengo province is set to make a comeback at Angola's renowned end-of-year Saint Sylvester Road Race after missing the previous edition due to a lack of support. For the 69th edition of the marathon, scheduled for December 31 in Luanda, Bengo has already registered athletes Ant³nio Calembe Caba§a Kiiala and Raimundo Paulo to represent the province, as stated by the president of the Provincial Athletics Association, Domingos Ngueve Caxiala.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Domingos Ngueve Caxiala mentioned that several clubs within the province have shown interest in registering two additional athletes for the race. The sports director highlighted that the general coordinator of the 69th So Silvestre has mandated provincial associations to manage all expenses related to transport, food, and accommodation for their respective delegations.

The 69th edition of the Saint Sylvester Road Race is valued at 520 million kwanzas and will see participation from both national and international runners. The 2025 race is expected to feature athletes from countries such as Ethiopia, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Morocco, Eswatini, Djibouti, Kenya, Mozambique, Lesotho, Malawi, Brazil, and Portugal.
