Muriege: An award for the best village and a model of youth leadership in communities has been established in the municipality of Muriege, located in the Lunda Sul province. The initiative, announced on Tuesday, aims to engage the population in programs with economic and social impacts.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the municipal administrator, Franco Mutunda, explained during the launch ceremony that the award will be granted annually. It will recognize achievements in areas such as basic sanitation, aligned constructions, and effective organization. The award will also honor individuals who excel in community leadership, particularly those capable of uniting people and actively participating in community development efforts.
Mutunda mentioned that details about the competition are still being refined. The municipality of Muriege spans 3,651 square kilometers and is home to an estimated population of 103,229. The area includes 26 schools and 12 medical posts.
