Luanda: The physical presentation of the Birth Certificate, Proof of Residence, and Criminal Record Certificate will no longer be required in the marriage process, according to a circular from the Ministry of Justice and Human Rights (MINJUSDH). The document, published on Wednesday (the 27th), states that the measure aims to strengthen the efficiency of public services and facilitate citizens' access to Public Administration services.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the initiative falls under the Program for the Simplification of Acts and Procedures of Public Administration (SIMPLIFICA), promoting the reduction of bureaucracy and the modernization of administrative procedures. "The Ministry of Justice and Human Rights has adopted new administrative simplification measures within the preliminary process of civil marriage," it reads.
With this measure, the couple will only need to present a valid identification document. "Whenever the data of national citizens are available in the databases of the Justice Services, the obtaining and verification of the Birth Certificate will be carried out ex officio, dispensing with its physical presentation," it states. According to the report, the new provisions apply to the Civil Registry Offices integrated into the new computer application and come into force immediately.
