Sonangol Assures Fuel Availability Amid Surge in Demand

Luanda: The Angolan state-owned oil company Sonangol on Thursday assured the availability of fuel to meet the demand in the country and informed that a plan to stabilize the supply network is underway, in the face of the "atypical" demand that has been registered in recent days.

According to Angola Press News Agency, the company's retail supplier branch acknowledged the significant increase in fuel demand in several provinces of the country since the beginning of this week, particularly in Luanda, Benguela, Hula, and Namibe. This situation occurs in a context of sudden and atypical growth in demand, which has generated increased pressure on the supply logistics chain and consequently caused temporary constraints at several service stations.

Sonangol clarified that the country has sufficient fuel to meet demand and that, in coordination with the different operators in the sector, a plan to stabilize the supply network is underway. The oil company reported that fuel replenishment operations are currently underway, by land and sea, to various provinces across the country.

The company guarantees its full commitment to the rapid normalization of supply and the gradual stabilization of the situation in the coming days and appeals for calm and serenity from the population, reiterating its commitment to ensuring the regular supply of the national market.
