Luanda: The Caio Deepwater Terminal in the northern province of Cabinda, Angola, is projected to generate an annual turnover of 6 billion kwanzas. This estimation comes under the concession of its management, maintenance, and operating services, which have been secured for a period of 20 years.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the terminal's development could create 6,000 direct jobs and 36,000 indirect jobs, as stated by an official. Jos© Covinga highlighted the readiness of internal conditions within the enclave and noted the rehabilitation of access roads to the borders with the two Congos, a project managed by the Ministry of Public Works. He emphasized the terminal's potential to transform Cabinda's logistics landscape and benefit neighboring countries by providing assurances to economic operators and investors.
In the bidding process, Jeanine Daniel, chairperson of the Evaluation Committee, announced that submissions from Sogester S.A., Africa Global Logistics (AGL), and the MISG Consortium were accepted. The MISG Consortium includes four companies of both national and international origin. Daniel clarified that the presentation was primarily to admit bidders, with a subsequent evaluation of the proposals' merits set to follow. This will lead to the preparation of a preliminary report, a prior hearing, and negotiations in line with the Public Contracts Law. She also mentioned that any deficiencies not addressed during the session would have a window of five working days for rectification.
The public tender for the Caio Deepwater Terminal's concession was initiated by the Ministry of Transport through the Cabinda Port Company on April 9. The process, which began on July 27, was extended to August 27 at the request of interested parties, acknowledging the contract's complexity.
