Central Bank Reaffirms Policies to Improve Access to Credit

Luanda: The director of the Northwest Region of the National Bank of Angola (BNA), Isaltina Pelinganga, reaffirmed the commitment to the measures adopted by the BNA to improve access to credit and boost financial intermediation.

According to Angola Press News Agency, Pelinganga, speaking at the opening of a seminar on financing instruments for the economy, highlighted notices number 09 and 10 from 2024, which regulate mortgage credit, construction credit, and credit to the real sector of the economy. She reported that approximately 1,168 credit operations have been conducted under Notice number 10/2024, amounting to more than 1.4 billion Kwanzas.

Pelinganga stated that this value represents 25.14 percent of gross credit to the non-financial private business sector. In the housing sector, credit operations reached approximately 102.6 billion Kwanzas, benefiting around 263 families. She emphasized that these actions illustrate the real impact of credit stimulus policies and their direct contribution to the economic and social development of the country.

The seminar focused on access to credit within the scope of the policies and instruments defined by the BNA, aiming to stimulate credit to the productive and housing sectors. The goal is to strengthen the role of the financial system in promoting financial inclusion and national economic development. The meeting was attended by businesspeople, producers, and entrepreneurs from the 23 municipalities of U­ge province.
