Luanda: A total of 272 new cases of cholera were registered in the last 24 hours across several provinces in Angola, including Benguela, Malanje, Cuanza-Norte, Huíla, Icolo e Bengo, Bengo, Cabinda, Cuanza-Sul, and Namibe. The outbreak continues to impact these regions significantly as health officials work to control its spread. According to Angola Press News Agency, the Ministry of Health's information bulletin has updated the number of cases, indicating that 5 deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, with 4 in Benguela and 1 in Huambo. The report provides a breakdown of the new cases, with 175 registered in Benguela, 37 in Luanda, 24 in Malanje, 11 in Cuanza-Norte, 7 in Huíla, 5 in Icolo e Bengo, 4 in Bengo, and 3 each in Cabinda, Cuanza-Sul, and Namibe. During the same period, 253 individuals were discharged from hospitals, while 1,249 others remain in health facilities. The cumulative total of cases since the outbreak began in January has reached 14,090, affecting various regions differently. Luanda has re ported the highest number with 5,247 cases, followed by Bengo with 2,891, and Benguela with 2,279. The outbreak has resulted in 505 deaths so far, with Luanda experiencing the most fatalities at 190. Other affected areas include Bengo with 112 deaths, Benguela with 74, and Cuanza-Norte with 60. Efforts continue to address the outbreak and mitigate further loss of life as health authorities focus on containment and treatment strategies.
