Luanda – The National Youth Council (CNJ) plans to train 400,000 young people nationwide until 2024, said Monday in Luanda, CNJ chairman Isaías Kalunga.
Speaking to the press at the end of an audience with the secretary of State for Labour, Pedro Filipe, he said that the training would be free of charge and would take place at vocational training centres of the Ministry of Public Administration, Labour and Social Security (MAPTSS).
He pointed out that young people from the CNJ and partner organisations and under the indication of the intermediate and base structures of the youth councils will benefit from it.
He pointed out that those who have an acceptable qualification by the end of the training will receive work kits to encourage self-employment.
He explained that the priority of the training is for agriculture, livestock, fishing and aquaculture fields.
Isaías Kalunga also said that the kits would also be delivered to 1,000 cooperatives which are already created by the CNJ.
“The secretary of State gave us assurances that several kits will be made available so that young people can be active in the society”, he added.
The official revealed that the Youth Leadership Centre will also be launched in April 2023, to train youth leaders.
He also said that the Branches of Youth Councils will be taken to the neighbourhoods, a basic structure that will transmit the social policy of the Executive, directed to the youths of the communities, as well as to strengthen the relationship of the youths with the Government and partners.
On behalf of the Secretary of State, the National Director for Working Conditions and Income, António Estote, said that the meeting was quite valuable, as it happened at a time when the Action Plan for the Promotion of Employability (PAPE) is being re-evaluated and the National Employment Policy is being made.
He stressed that the CNJ´s contribution will help in what are the employment policies that MAPTSS will outline.
“We have received three memorandums with quite objective proposals linked to self-employment and vocational training”, he said.
