Country partnership strategy with Tunisia expected to be presented to WB Board by mid-June

The country partnership strategy with Tunisia is expected to be presented to the World Bank (WB) board of directors by mid-June, WB Vice President for the Middle East and North Africa Ferid Belhaj said at the end of a meeting with Minister of Economy and Planning Samir Saied, held on Friday on the sidelines of the 2023 Spring Meetings of the WB Group and International Monetary Fund (April 10-16 in Washington).

Belhaj pointed out in a Tweet, that this “fruitful” meeting had offered the occasion to reiterate the bank’s support for development programmes, notably in the renewable energy, small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and social protection fields.

The WB announced on March 6, that discussions on its country partnership framework with Tunisia, which defines the strategic orientations of operational commitments in the medium term (2023-2027), had been “temporarily paused” by management in the light of recent events concerning sub-Saharan migrants.
