Covid-19: Angola recebe lote de vacinas Moderna

Luanda – Angola received, for the first time, this Tuesday, a batch of 297,100 doses of the Moderna vaccine.

This is a batch of 274,800 doses donated by the German government and 22,300 doses by the Spanish government.

By the way, the Secretary of State for Public Health, Franco Mufinda, highlighted the valences of newly arrived vaccines, clarifying that the biological purpose of Moderna ends up having the same standard as Pfizer, from the point of view of performance.

Angola currently has six types of vaccines: Moderna, Sputnik, Johnson&Jonhson, Sinopharm, Pfizer and Astrazeneca.

The country has, until this Tuesday, 7, with 10,169,470 vaccinated. Of those vaccinated, 7,056,198 received the first dose, corresponding to a coverage of 44.76% of the target population, and 3,361,844 with both doses, corresponding to a coverage of 21.32 percent.

Angola plans to vaccinate 60% of the country’s eligible population against Covid-19 by the end of this month.

The vaccination process began on March 2, when it received the first 624,000 vaccines from AstraZeneca, funded by the Covax initiative.

For this purpose, the country has more than 100 vaccination posts spread across 18 provinces.
