COVID-19: AUTHORITIES REPORT 355 NEW CASES, 502 RECOVERIES

Luanda – The Angolan health authorities announced this Thursday the recovery of 502 Covid-19 patients, the registration of 355 new cases and five deaths from this pandemic, in the last 24 hours.

According the latest update, among the new recoveries 431 reside in Luanda, 38 in Huambo, 20 in Bié, 9 in Namibe, 2 in Cuando Cubango and 2 e Moxico Province.

In regard to the new cases, 263 were diagnosed in Luanda, 30 in Cuanza Norte, 16 in Huambo, 9 in Cuanza Sul, 9 in Huila, 7 in Cabinda, 7 in Zaire, 4 in Uige, 3 in Malanje, 2 in Bie, 2 in Cunene, 2 in Namibe and 1 in Lunda Norte Province.

The new cases happened were recorded in citizens whose ages range from 1 month to 101 years.

In the last 24 hours, the laboratories processed 4,007 samples, with a daily positivity rate of 8.8 per cent.

The deaths happened in the provinces of Luanda (3) and Bié (2).

In treatment centres there are 282 in-patients, while 115 citizens are undergoing i9nstitutional quarantine. There are also 5,171 new positive contacts which have been submitted to epidemiological surveillance.

Overall, Angola now has 60,803 cases, 1,603 deaths, plus 49,250 recoveries and 9,950 active cases. Of those active, 28 are in critical condition, 34 serious, 151 moderate, 69 mild and 9,668 asymptomatic.
