CPLP ambassadors highlight Angola’s commitment

Luanda – The Ambassadors of the Community of the Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) to Italy recognized Tuesday the Angola’s action focused on the conciliation of regional and global objectives as an instrument of climate regulation.

They recalled that the climate change as an integral part of the SDGs is crucial for the success of the 2030 Agenda and the regional Agendas.

The information is expressed in a press release reached ANGOP after the meeting of the Presidency of the Group of the CPLP Ambassadors to Italy, which resumed the consultation work after a suspension due to the coronavirus pandemic. Covid-19.

During the meeting, the Ambassadors praised the collaboration and cooperation in matters related to the Sustainable Development Goals, especially those related to the strengthening of food and nutrition systems, vulnerabilities and adaptation and mitigation plans.

At the meeting, according to the Angolan diplomat, Fátima Jardim, “information was provided and proposals were presented, which will be enriched with contributions from the participants.

Participants welcomed the CPLP’s Food and Nutrition Security Strategy and the promotion of actions for the implementation of programmes resulting from the Food Systems Summit.

The Ambassadors also took note of Angola’s suggestion to create a permanent monitoring group and the appointment of a CPLP focal point.

The meeting encouraged the efforts made by the community to support Mozambique, which is suffering, in the north of the country, terrorist attacks and urged the continuation of this action with a view to guaranteeing the safety and protection of the populations.

Participants also welcomed Portugal for hosting, in June, the second World Ocean Summit co-organised by Portugal and Kenya, to discuss ways to alert the world to the protection of the oceans, and thanked the Portuguese Ambassador for sharing relevant aspects , relating to the event.

The Ambassador of Angola to Italy and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Agencies in Rome (FAO, IFAD and WFP), Fátima Jardim, coordinates the CPLP ambassadors since Angola took over the rotating presidency of the Organisation in June 2021.
