Luena: The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) in Moxico province has denied the existence of an alleged network of genital organ traffickers in the city of Luena.
According to Angola Press News Agency, recent days have seen a surge in social media posts alleging the practice of genital organ extraction by unidentified individuals, which has created a climate of fear among the local population.
In statements to ANGOP, the SIC classified the information as "totally unfounded," clarifying that it is a "rumor" created with the intention of causing social alarm. The narrative reportedly originated in the municipality of Luau, in the province of Moxico Leste, and there is currently no evidence to date of its veracity.
"The investigations carried out so far have not found any evidence to support the existence of this group," the SIC assured.
Sociologist Baptista Domingos condemned the dissemination of this type of information and warned of its negative effects within communities. The academic urged the population to avoid sharing unverified information, emphasizing the importance of combating misinformation.
