Wako-Kungo:Cuanza-Sul The province is focusing on transforming its abundant natural resources into local production, job creation, and sustainable development to attract investment, according to Clara Tavares, the deputy governor for political, social, and economic sectors.
According to Angola Press News Agency, Tavares emphasized the importance of the province's arable land, water resources, coastline, fisheries, forests, minerals, and livestock as significant investment assets during the opening of the 7th Business and Connectivity Forum in Wako-Kungo.
She stressed the need for stronger integration across value chains, which include agricultural production, processing, storage, transport, and marketing, particularly in sectors such as coffee, bananas, palm oil, livestock, and fisheries. Tavares pointed out that simply having natural resources is not enough to generate wealth, highlighting the necessity for public and private institutions to connect rural producers with financial institutions and industrial markets.
The two-day forum, organized by the media group M©dia Nova under the theme 'From the Cuanza to the Sea Connecting Businesses, Cultivating the Future,' aims to bring together investors, business leaders, and public officials to discuss agribusiness, mineral resources, food security, and domestic tourism.
Augusto Dembo, General Coordinator of M©dia Nova Group, noted that economic connectivity is achieved when producers from Wako-Kungo can access markets across the country. He also mentioned that the traveling forum has been held in other provinces, including Cabinda, Benguela, Huambo, Hula, and Uge.
