CWEIC pledges investment in Angola

Luanda – Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) pledged to invest in Angola in view of the large reforms the country is carrying out to promote a good business environment, the institution’s CEO Lord Marland said Friday.

CWEIC members facilitate connections and opportunities for strategic local and regional partners, while providing investments with key local actors.

Lord Marland, who was speaking at a business meeting held in Luanda, expressed the CWEIC’s ambition to explore the possibility of transforming Angola into a strategic business hub in Southern Africa.

However, he pointed out that AIPEX and CWEIC set, among other goals, to boost trade and investment ties between Angola and the Commonwealth member countries.

In turn, the chairman of the Board of the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), Lello Francisco, explained that conditions have been created to encourage foreign investment, as the reforms in public administration have increasingly reduced bureaucracies.

During the year 2022, the Angolan official said that foreign investment in the country stood at around US$10 billion, the highest figure in the last five years.
