Luanda: The Deputy Chief of the General Staff, General Jaime Manuel Pombo Vilinga, emphasized on Friday the importance of training and continuous learning as an integral part of the military condition.
According to Angola Press News Agency, the senior officer made the statement during the graduation of 166 officers of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), at the closing of the 2025/2026 academic year of the Higher War College. The general highlighted the need for the Angolan Armed Forces to have military researchers capable of producing solutions adapted to the national reality and who publish, investigate, innovate, and contribute to the development of the country's military doctrine.
'We can consider military science as an instrument of sovereignty. It is through it that we transform information into knowledge, into operational capacity and national security,' the general said. The general stressed that the Armed Forces are fully aware that future superiority will be achieved, first and foremost, in classrooms, laboratories, research centers, simulators, digital libraries, and technological development centers.
He added that the Armed Forces will continue investing in the development of their personnel, the modernization of military education, doctrinal updates, scientific research, and technological innovation, aware that these constitute the fundamental pillars for the preservation of sovereignty, independence, peace, and national stability. The personnel, who received certificates and medals, were trained on Strategy and Operational Art, Command and Direction, Organization of Moral and Psychological Assurance, Training of the Operational Bodies of the Armed Forces, and Joint Staff.
The ceremony was attended by general officers, admirals, commissioners, captains, sergeants, enlisted personnel, and guests. The Superior War College is a military educational institution designed to train, improve, specialize, and empower officers of the armed forces and others in advanced strategic, operational, tactical, and administrative studies. The institution also fosters research and development in areas related to strategy, defense, national and international security.
