Egyptian and Turkish Investors Eye Angolan Opportunities at Cairo Conference

Cairo: Egyptian and Turkish businesspeople have shown keen interest in investing in Angola, particularly in the renewable energy sector. This development emerged during the Arab-African Conference for Investment in Water and Energy (Aqult Expo 2025), held from the 14th to the 16th of this month in Cairo, Egypt. The event provided a platform for Angolan representatives to showcase the country's potential and strategic projects in sectors such as regional transport and logistics, energy, resources, and water. According to Angola Press News Agency, Elsa Bravo da Rosa, counselor at the Angolan Embassy in Egypt, highlighted the conference as an opportunity to engage with the Egyptian market and other participating nationalities. The Angolan delegation presented various structuring projects, which caught the attention of investors, particularly those interested in partnerships related to water distribution and clean energy production. Large Egyptian companies, many already invested in other African nations, were notably interested. There was also engagement from Chinese, Namibian, and Turkish companies, with Turkish investors showing a distinct interest in the mining sector. Additionally, the Republic of Namibia expressed interest in collaborating with Angola to combat drought, inspired by visits to infrastructure projects like the Cafu canal and the Ndúe and Calucuve dams in Cunene province. Angola's logistics sector, particularly the Lobito Corridor, also attracted significant attention from international businesspeople. Hélio dos Santos from the International Cooperation Directorate of the Angolan Ministry of Foreign Affairs was among the Angolan delegation members promoting these investment opportunities. The event was organized by the International Federation of Overseas Arab Entrepreneurs and Investors, as part of the Middle East and Africa International Water and Energy Expo 2026. The federation, established in 2015, serves as a global network connecting the Arab market with international business and invest ment opportunities.
