Elections2022: Bishop of Ndalatando calls for respect for people’s will

Ndalatando – The Catholic bishop of Ndalatando diocese, Dom Almeida Kanda, called on political parties to observe the principles of “democratic wisdom” and respect the will of the people to be expressed in the ballot.

Speaking to ANGOP after voting, in the centre of Ndalatando town, Bishop Almeida Kanda said it was important that the politicians should follow these principles of democratic wisdom, accepting the results to be published by the National Electoral Commission (CNE).

He defended that each citizen should exercise his civic duty and that all should work for serenity, harmony, tranquillity, so that everyone can contribute for the development of the country.

“At this moment may all Angolans know how to live together in difference, tranquility, promoting stability”, exhorted the bishop.

The bishop went on to say that he hopes the election results will be welcomed with joy and in a celebration atmosphere by all Angolans, for the continued promotion of peace and national reconciliation.

According to a source at the Provincial Electoral Commission, 68 observers, of whom 58 are national and 10 international, are working to supervise the electoral process in Cuanza Norte Province, where 327 polling stations and 528 voting tables have been set up.

A total of 249,917 voters are registered in the province
